Accelerating Clinical Trials across the Nor
Accelerating Clinical Trials across the Northern Way
The ACTNoW® online database is an invaluable clinical research resource for Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries, Academia and the NHS. It is a web-based tool created to facilitate the placement of clinical trials in the NHS by signposting key clinical expertise and trial-experienced NHS investigators.
The aim is to link NHS, Industry and patients and ultimately increase the number of clinical trials hosted across the North of England.
- Clinical trials help ensure that the newest and best medical treatments are made available to patients, and can improve individual patient outcomes for trial participants.
- Benefits to Industry include faster more efficient site selection of experienced investigators more likely to meet patient recruitment targets.
- The NHS benefits from increased revenue and recognition, better communication with industry and better outcomes for patients through trial participation.
ACTNoW® is expanding to cover NHS clinical trial investigators and research nurses across the whole of the North of England. This expansion will include listing more allied health professionals with research experience, plus a much wider range of clinical expertise (covering devices as well as pharmaceuticals).
ACTNoW® is hosted by NHS Innovations across the Northern Way:
- TrusTECH (North West, www.trustech.org.uk );
- Medipex (Yorkshire and Humber, www.medipex.co.uk ); and
- NHS Innovations North (NorthEast of England, www.nhsinnovationsnorth.org.uk ).
